Building a Legacy of Service: The Sandlin Family’s Impact on Dragon Nation

When Molly and Jason Sandlin moved to Southlake with their twins, Caleb and Ethan, they were searching for more than simply a place to live. They wanted to raise their family in a community that shared their values of faith, family, education, and service. A place where their boys could grow into men of character while surrounded by people who genuinely care for one another.

In Southlake, the Sandlins found a community where excellence is encouraged, relationships matter, and people continually invest in the success of the next generation.

As owners of CAET Construction, Molly and Jason understand the importance of building strong foundations. That belief extends beyond their business and into their support of Carroll ISD educators through the Carroll Education Foundation.

For the Sandlins, supporting Dragon teachers is an investment in every student, every family, and the future of the Southlake community. We sat down with Jason and Molly to learn more about their passion for supporting educators, the legacy they hope to create, and what being part of Dragon Nation means to their family.

Why do you believe teachers are such an important investment?

“Teachers are among the greatest investments a community can make because they influence lives long before any of us ever see the results. Every doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, first responder, business owner, and military leader began with a teacher who believed in them.

As parents, we’ve watched firsthand how incredible teachers do far more than teach math, science, or English. They build confidence, encourage resilience, recognize potential, and help shape character. They often become mentors, role models, counselors, and trusted adults during some of the most important years of a child’s life.

Having served in the military and now leading a growing business, I’ve learned that success is never built alone. It begins with people who invest in you long before they ever receive credit. Teachers do exactly that every single day.”

What lasting difference do you hope your investment creates?

“Our hope is simple. We want teachers to know that this community believes in them as much as they believe in our children.

When educators have access to additional resources, innovative programs, and opportunities that stretch beyond the normal classroom budget, every student benefits. If our family’s support helps even one teacher inspire another generation of students, then the return on that investment will continue for decades.

We also hope our boys grow up understanding that success comes with responsibility. We want them to see generosity not as something you do after you’ve ‘made it,’ but as a way of life. If they learn that lesson while watching our family support Carroll teachers, then we’ve accomplished something far greater than writing a check.”

How has being part of the Dragon community shaped your family?

“Being part of the Dragon community has reinforced everything we hoped our children would experience growing up. Carroll challenges students to pursue excellence while surrounding them with teachers, coaches, administrators, and mentors who genuinely care about them as individuals. Caleb and Ethan have been encouraged not only academically, but also through athletics, leadership opportunities, and relationships that are helping shape the young men they are becoming.

The Dragon community isn’t defined by championships or rankings, although those are certainly something to celebrate. It’s defined by people who care deeply about one another and who expect everyone to contribute something meaningful back to the community. That culture has had a tremendous influence on our family.”

What is most meaningful to you about seeing families and businesses unite in support of our teachers?

“One of the things that makes Southlake truly special is that supporting education isn’t viewed as someone else’s responsibility. Families, local businesses, community leaders, volunteers, and organizations all come together because we understand we’re investing in something much larger than today’s students. It’s inspiring to see a community recognize that exceptional schools don’t happen by accident. They are built by exceptional teachers who deserve exceptional support.

Our family has been incredibly blessed, and we believe blessings carry responsibility. Supporting the Carroll Education Foundation is one way we can help ensure that teachers have the tools they need to continue changing lives. We hope others are inspired to do the same because the greatest legacy any community can leave is investing in its children.”
