What is the Carroll Education Foundation?

The Carroll Education Foundation is a vision that is being reached by generous people like you who have a sincere interest in our students and their success. Together we are a community of volunteers who make up a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization whose sole purpose is to generate and distribute resources for the benefit of the children of the CISD.

What does the Carroll Education Foundation do?

The Foundation provides funds for educational programs not covered by the District's normal operating budget. Foundation funds are used to facilitate student achievement and skill development and to recognize and encourage staff excellence.

Why was the Carroll Education Foundation started?

Very simply, to make a difference. The Carroll Education Foundation was created by a small group of concerned community leaders to support the educational programs of the Carroll Independent School District. The mission of the Foundation is to enrich, maintain and expand programs needed to meet the school district's stated mission of providing a learning environment that inspires individual success and responsibility in a competitive local and global community.

What are the goals of the Carroll Education Foundation?

  • Encourage all students to work to their highest potential.
  • Reward all teachers for innovative efforts and exemplary teaching.
  • Build public awareness and confidence in our schools.
  • Involve the community in assuring a quality education for the leaders and workers of tomorrow.
  • Expand community involvement from individuals, businesses and civic organizations.

Who decides how the money is spent?

Through a formal grant application process, the Carroll Education Foundation Board of Directors, teachers and administrators meet to evaluate all teacher-grants applications. This committee selects new programs and monitors and evaluates current programs. Contributors may elect to fund specific projects or give to the Foundation for distribution by the grant committee.

How does the Carroll Education Foundation raise money?

Funds for the Foundation are raised through:

  • General donations - cash or pledged donations
  • Planned giving - wills, trusts, estate plans
  • Matched giving - donations matched by employers
  • Community Membership Drive
  • Fund-raisers - Culinary Celebration and other planned community activities
  • Endowment fund - contributions may be designated specifically for the endowment fund

Why an endowment fund?

The Carroll Education Foundation in its inaugural campaign established an endowment fund to ensure long-term stability for our district. The endowment fund continues to grow through the generous support of donors who strongly believe that an endowment will be a safeguard for the future of the Carroll Independent Schools.

How does the Foundation make a difference in the community?

We believe there is a strong correlation between the quality of life in the community and the quality of its educational system. Public schools help create the community in which we live, and will continue to be the backbone of the future as long as we ensure they remain the best in the nation.

How does the Foundation make a difference in our children?

Innovative Foundation programs better prepare our children for the 21st century by enhancing strong academics, technology, classroom materials and the skilled instruction they need.

What is the future as we see it?

There is nothing more important than the education of our children. As a parent, grandparent, property owner or business owner your ongoing involvement and support is vital. Through contributions you provide an integral link to the quality of education.

Funding priorities, excellence in education

  • To provide innovative teaching grants for creative approaches to learning not part of the normal operating budget.
  • To award five annual scholarships for excellence in education.
  • Maintain an endowment fund for the long-term stability and future of all Foundation programs.
