Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2010

Sponsor: Grayson Allen Jewelers
Grant: iPossible
School: Eubanks Intermediate School

Is it possible to energize classrooms with iPads? We believe the answer is a resounding, “Yes!” Our grant will introduce iPads into Art classes, Language Arts classes and Care Reading classes. Art students will work in groups to research comic book artists and storyboards and then design an original storyboard. Photographs will be taken of the final storyboard and imported into the iPad. Students will edit and modify photos using multiple applications (apps). Language Arts classes will work in groups and apply problem solving skills to locate research information. CARE students will work with the iPad in order to understand and demonstrate reading practices including highlighting, note taking, and annotating using iBook. The uses of the iPad and learning apps in education are growing dramatically every day. The new applications recently launched by Discovery Education and the Texas Education iTunes U channel will deliver dynamic educational experiences. We are inspired about creating a student-centered environment with the iPad. It will be exciting to watch as the passion for learning ignites in the realm of the iPossible.
