Are you Smarter Than a Little Dragon? is a grant for engaging age appropriate science books. The 721 science books are a collection of big books and small books. The big books will be used during our shared reading to teach science concepts. In kindergarten big books provide the opportunity for the child to feel as though they are in the story. The large vivid illustrations are easy for every child in the classroom to see. These interactive big books include activities such as hands-on sorting. The small books will be used as non-fiction guided reading books. These books will be leveled and used by the children during reader's workshop. By purchasing 666 little books, the children will have the opportunity to enjoy the book independently. During reader's workshop, each child has their own reading drawer. The drawers contain fiction leveled readers, non-fiction readers, and magazines. The books purchased from this grant will be added to our classroom library and used by the children each day.
