Our CEF Grant, entitled Feed the Need to Read, will allow us to immediately implement Reader’s Workshop in the 5 Kindergarten classrooms at Carroll Elementary. We are striving to build a “place” for readers to practice their craft. We want to cultivate a love and a passion for reading within a balanced literacy framework. Our readers will benefit from labeled tubs brimming with color-coded leveled books, a storage drawer that will house his/her self-selected leveled books for the week, and sturdy canvas book bags to transport cherished books home to read and enjoy each night. The CES Kindergarten team is excited about embarking on an exciting adventure with our children – that fortunately, will last a lifetime. We cannot wait to invite the wonderful people at Park Place Lexus back to our classrooms to see the amazing literacy-filled environment that their generosity helped to create.
