Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2008

Sponsor: BASA Resources, Greater Southlake Women's Society
Grant: Little Dragons: The Einsteins of Tomorrow
School: Old Union Elementary

The kindergarten teachers at Old Union cannot thank the Carroll Education Foundation enough for their generous support of our science curriculum. We are thrilled that CEF has given us the means to provide excellent materials which will enhance our science lessons as well as our science center. Our new Science Instant Learning Centers and Science Specimen Sorting Center will give each kindergarten teacher and each kindergarten student hands-on access to foundational science topics such as our five senses, matter, weather & seasons, and life cycles. These learning centers will provide the resources needed for students to build meaningful science skills step by step, both through exploration and guided activities. Each kindergarten classroom will also now have a Tabletop Science Center and science related non-fiction books which will introduce the children to the wonders of science and encourage them to exercise their natural curiosity. We are excited to bring these meaningful non-fiction science texts as well as real scientific tools and resources into our classrooms for our young students to use and explore.
