Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2007

Sponsor: Southlake Journal
Grant: Social Skills for School Success
School: Eubanks Intermediate

Speech-language services are provided for a wide variety of students, ranging from the non-verbal students in the life skills classrooms to the speech-language impaired students seen in an inclusive, general education classroom. All students in grades 5-8 are developing and refining their social language skills and some of the most successful social groups are those that include both general and special education students.

The social language skills materials from the grant will be used to address social and pragmatic language skills as stated in student IEP goals and objectives, in student 504 plans or for general education students who might be struggling socially. The materials enhance the goals and objectives of already existing social groups/lunch bunches by providing hands on activities, role plays, social games, etc. that can be used with current curriculum. Curriculum materials support campus initiatives, the CISD values of relationships, character & integrity, and open & honest communication as well as the district mission of encouraging each student to reach his or her social potential.
