Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2006

Science and math go Hand-in-Hand like reading and writing! This grant will fund the purchase of nonfiction books for math, children's dictionaries, and professional materials to guide the writing workshop as written by Lucy Calkins. Our Campus Goal is to improve reading comprehension and writing skills across the curriculum. Students will be reading a wide variety of genres and have opportunities to write real, meaningful texts of their own choosing. Motivated, inquisitive students will be seeking out books and opportunities to write about their new understandings. The Hand-in-Hand CEF Grant will impact Durham Elementary School's entire campus of 473 students from Pre K through fourth grade.--Durham Elementary School
