Grant/Teacher: Making Connections in Science Through Literacy/Debra Heath at Durham Elementary School
Through this grant, Connections in Science Through Literacy, Durham Elementary students will have a variety of science non-fiction ability-leveled books to read independently, in a small group, or used as read alouds in their classrooms, with reading specialists, or in the science lab. The books will match the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills curriculum topics as well as the students' reading abilities. The goal is to improve reading comprehension levels and provide the necessary vocabulary and background information so that students can make connections in science through non-fiction literature.
